Registering a new charge site
The wizard in four steps: subscription and address, owner or employer and employee, connecting and testing the charge point, and your charge cards.

onboarding
You register a new charge site with the wizard. It creates the charge site, the charge point, the necessary accounts and your charge cards in one go. You start it on the dashboard with Choose a subscription in the Add new charging station block, or under Charge sites with Create a loading site. Installers and resellers start it in the same way from their own account.
What to have ready
- The serial number of the charge point (it is on the charge point or in the manufacturer's app).
- The billing details of the owner: company name, VAT number, IBAN, address.
- For split billing: the name, the email address and the IBAN of the employee.
- The RFID codes of your charge cards, if you already have them.
You can interrupt the wizard: your progress is saved per step, and the link to your wizard stays valid for ninety days.
Step 1: Charge site

Choose your subscription. Every card shows what the subscription includes and what it costs per month:
| Subscription | For whom |
|---|---|
| Occasional Public (free) | Occasional charging by others; no monthly cost. Wattify charges a 20 % surcharge on the CREG tariff and 1.50 euro starting fee per public session. |
| Low Public | Regular public charging at a low monthly rate; 10 % surcharge on the CREG tariff. Free in months with more than 500 kWh. |
| Public | A fully public charge point: you set your own tariff yourself (start, kWh, time, parking), with roaming, priority support and API access. Wattify charges 0.02 euro per kWh. |
| Employee home charging station (split billing) | The employer pays for the charging sessions, the employee is automatically reimbursed at the CREG tariff. |
More about the prices is in Setting your prices. What an owners' association chooses is explained in Charging in an apartment building (owners' association).
Name. Choose a recognisable name for the charge site, the name of the business or the building for instance. For a public charge site, do not use personal names or street names: the name is visible to drivers. Every name is unique.
Address. Street, house number, postcode, town and country. On the Charge site location map you see the pin that was derived from the address; move it if it is not in the right place, because drivers navigate to that pin.
Step 2: Account
For a public subscription you enter the details of the owner. If you are the owner yourself, your details are already filled in and you can check them. An installer picks an existing customer or creates a new one with a name and an email address; the company details and the billing address are optional. The new customer automatically receives an email to complete their account.
For split billing you enter two parties:
- Employer: choose an existing employer or create a new one. Tick Vrije beroep (liberal profession) for an employer that is exempt from VAT, a home nurse for instance.
- Employee: name, email address and the IBAN into which the reimbursement of the home charging sessions is paid, usually a private account. If you are the business owner and the employee yourself, tick The employee is me (business owner): you keep one sign-in and the employee account for the reimbursement is created automatically.
Step 3: Charge point
Add your charge point with:
- Charging station brand: the brand of the charge point.
- Serial number / Device ID: the number on the charge point. With some brands it automatically gets a prefix.
- Charging station description: a short, unique name by which you recognise the charge point, "Car park left" for instance.
On the right is the Connect your charging station block with Wattify's OCPP address and a copy button. Enter that address through the manufacturer's app or portal, or choose "Wattify" there as the brand if it offers that option; the steps per brand are in Connecting your charge point to Wattify. Then click Test the connection: the wizard checks whether the charge point has already signed in and, if needed, adjusts the serial number to what the charge point reports itself.
If you have several charge points in the same place, add them all here.
Step 4: Charge card
Answer Do you already have a charge card?:
- No, I don't need a charge card. For a purely public charge point, for instance.
- No, I don't have a charge card yet. Send me a charge card at the above address. Wattify or your reseller will send you a charge card.
- Yes, I already have a charge card. Enter a name, the RFID code and, if you wish, the number plate for each card. The RFID code is on the card or you get it from your supplier; it is what the charge point reads when you present the card. See also Learning mode and RFID codes.
Click Complete onboarding. After that:
- the charge site, the charge point and the charge cards are in the portal;
- a new owner or employee gets an email to complete their account;
- the management agreement appears on your dashboard to be signed, see Signing the management agreement for a charge site.
