Connectors and their status

What a connector is, what the statuses from the OCPP protocol mean and what to do for each status.

A connector is one connection point on a charge point: a socket or a fixed cable. A charge point with two connection points therefore has two connectors, and every connector has its own status. Under Connectors in the menu are all the connectors of your charge points; you also find them at the bottom of the detail page of every charge point.

The overview

Per connector you see the charge point, the charge site, the owner and the current status. With the filter at the top you show only connectors with a fault, for instance. You never create connectors yourself: the charge point registers them automatically on its first connection with Wattify.

The Connectors overview

The statuses

The status comes straight from the charge point, through the OCPP protocol.

Status Meaning What you do
Available No car connected; the connector is free. Nothing.
Preparing A car is connected or a charge card was presented, but charging has not started yet. Wait a moment. If the status stays put, check the charge card or the cable.
Charging The car is charging. Nothing.
SuspendedEV The car is connected but is not drawing any power: the battery is full, or the car itself is pausing the charging. Look in the car; this is not a fault of the charge point.
SuspendedEVSE The car is connected but the charge point is not supplying any power, because of load balancing or a setting for instance. Check the settings of the charge site; see Technical settings and load balancing.
Finishing Charging has finished, the car is still connected to the charge point. Disconnect the cable. On charge sites with a parking tariff, that tariff starts running after the free waiting time.
Reserved The connector is reserved for a particular user. Nothing.
Unavailable The connector is out of service, usually because of maintenance or a restart. Wait for the restart; see My charge point is offline or not working.
Faulted The charge point reports a technical problem. Restart the charge point through the actions on the charge point; if the fault persists, contact your installer.

A charge point also reports a status for the charge point as a whole, connector 0. Wattify uses that internally and you do not see it in the overview.
